ESVAGT SOV for MHI Vestas ready for sea trials

Press Release   •   Jun 26, 2017 06:30 BST

ESVAGT Service Operation Vessel H-048 for MHI Vestas was launched on 21 June 2017.

The service operation vessel for MHI Vestas Offshore Wind in Belwind 1 has been launched.

The new build, H-048, has just been launched at the Cemre Shipyard in Turkey, where the vessel is being fitted out before sea trials commence at the end of September.

The vessel is the latest development of ESVAGT’s pioneering SOV concept. With a length of 58.5 metres, the H-048 is significantly smaller than, for example, the SOV vessels, the ’Esvagt Froude’, ’Esvagt Faraday’ and ’Esvagt Njord’, and its equipped differently too. For example, transfers to the offshore wind turbines will be solely performed using three Safe Transfer Boats (STB) – the vessel is therefore equipped with two STB 7 and one STB 12.

“The H-048 demonstrates the wide scope and flexibility of ESVAGT’s SOV concept says Kristian Ole Jakobsen, Chief Operational Officer for ESVAGT:

“Each ESVAGT SOV is designed according to the customer’s needs and specifications. We have serviced MHI Vestas Offshore Wind in the Belwind 1 offshore wind turbine farm with the ’Esvagt Supporter’ for six years; the new vessel has been optimised to suit the exact requirements of the customer in this specific park”, says Kristian Ole Jakobsen.

The vessel will enter charter in Belwind 1 in the second half of 2017.

Facts:

The ’Esvagt H 048’ has been designed and developed in cooperation between ESVAGT and Havyard Ship Technology and is being built at the Cemre Shipyard in Turkey.
